Discover Arturo's Coal Oven Pizza

If you're in the mood for authentic New York pizza, Arturo's Coal Oven Pizza is a must-try spot. Located at 106 W Houston St, New York, NY 10012, this iconic pizzeria brings the rich history of coal oven-baked pizza to the heart of Manhattan. For pizza lovers who appreciate a perfect combination of crispy crust, flavorful toppings, and smoky notes, Arturo's offers an experience that captures the essence of traditional pizza-making with a modern twist.

One of the standout features of Arturo’s is its coal oven, which delivers a distinct flavor that you won’t find in a standard pizza oven. The high heat from the coal gives the crust a unique crispiness, while imparting a subtle smokiness that adds depth to every bite. The oven, along with Arturo's time-tested recipes, ensures a pizza that is both satisfying and memorable. It’s not just about the oven; it’s about the care and craft that goes into every pizza.

The menu at Arturo’s Coal Oven Pizza features a range of mouthwatering options, from classic margherita to inventive specialty pizzas. The margherita pizza, with its perfectly balanced blend of fresh mozzarella, tangy tomato sauce, and basil, is a fan favorite. If you're in the mood for something a little bolder, the white pizza, made without tomato sauce, is a delicious alternative. Topped with ricotta, mozzarella, and garlic, it’s a creamy, savory delight.

Arturo’s doesn’t just stick to pizza; their menu includes a selection of pastas, salads, and antipasti to complement their pies. The pasta dishes are crafted with the same level of care as their pizza, using fresh ingredients and offering a true taste of Italian comfort food. The garlic bread served on the side is another highlight-crispy, buttery, and garlicky, it’s the perfect accompaniment to your pizza or pasta.

The atmosphere at Arturo’s is just as inviting as the food. The cozy interior, with its brick walls and casual vibe, makes it a great spot for a casual meal with friends or a laid-back family dinner. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to offer recommendations or share the story behind the restaurant’s coal oven pizzas. It’s a place where you feel like you’re part of the family, and that’s reflected in the way the food is made-with passion and a dedication to quality.

Reviews from regulars and newcomers alike speak highly of the quality and consistency of the food at Arturo’s. Many guests praise the pizza for its delicious flavor and perfectly cooked crust, while others rave about the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. It's a place that attracts both locals and tourists looking to experience one of the best pizza joints in the city. Whether you're a pizza connoisseur or just looking for a great meal, Arturo’s delivers every time.

Arturo’s Coal Oven Pizza has earned a loyal following over the years, and it's easy to see why. It’s the perfect blend of tradition and innovation, offering a true taste of New York pizza in every slice. The combination of their signature coal oven, fresh ingredients, and expertly crafted dishes makes Arturo's a standout in a city full of pizza options. If you're in the area, it's a spot you won’t want to miss.

  • I am convinced this was the best carbonara I’ve ever had! The calamari was perfect. We had a stroller and they accommodated space for us. The atmosphere is very nice with live music

  • WOW!!! We chose Arturo’s after seeing it recommended in a Reddit thread as one of the best Italian spots in Manhattan, and the moment we saw there was live jazz, we knew we had to come. We are sooooo glad we did! From the second we arrived, we felt taken care of. Our waitress suggested we grab a drink at the bar while our table was being prepared, which turned out to be the best decision of the night. Rob was the bartender — singing into the microphone and interacting with the entire restaurant as soon as we sat down. He made us and every single person we saw feel at home. I never sit at the bar, but the vibe here was unreal. We felt so comfortable that we didn’t even want our table and ended up staying at the bar the whole time. Rob asked our names once and remembered them all night. His level of genuine customer service made the experience even more special. We ordered espresso martinis and a cherry coke styled cocktail and it was perfection. The jazz music was perfect and set the mood for the whole night. The musicians were extremely talented and sounded amazing. It added such a classic, warm vibe to the experience. We asked Rob for his recommendations, and based on our preferences, we started with the margherita pizza with soppressata, which was absolutely perfect. For our mains, we had the chicken Francese, and I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had a pasta dish that good. When Rob wasn’t singing or making sure our waters were always topped up, he brought us fresh baked bread to soak up the remaining pasta sauce — omgggg, it was soooo good. This place delivered a truly perfect experience — the kind of dining experience you rarely ever get. We’re sad we won’t be able to come back until our next NYC visit, but it just gives us something to look forward to even more. We can’t wait to return to Arturo’s on our next trip! • We had an excellent meal at Arturo’s Coal Oven Pizza. The pizzas were much larger than we expected and absolutely delicious. The pasta was outstanding as well, everyone at the table couldn’t stop talking about the carbonara, with one person saying it was even better than what they’d had in Italy. A fantastic spot with great food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

  • A must visit spot for a local-vibe pizza joint in West Village. We sat at the bar and were served by Rob, who has to be the best bartender/server of all time. The Caesar salad and pizza was great and so fresh. Live music from a band and Rob even got up to sing a song with them!

  • We had a group of 7. Otto was our server, very patient and efficient. Food was delish— we had hot antipasto, calamari, salad and clams for app. Dinners were naked calamari sautéed in fra Diablo marinara, lasagna with side hot sausage, bolognese and a pasta with artichoke special and drinks. Oh and pizza. It’s always fun and always tasty.

  • We hosted our wedding welcome dinner at Arturo’s, and it was absolutely fantastic! We had about 16 people and were given a cozy private room off to the side, which made the evening feel intimate and special. Carol was wonderful to work with — so accommodating, warm, and attentive — and the entire staff made us and our families feel right at home. The food was delicious (everyone was raving about it!), and the atmosphere was perfect — lively, welcoming, and full of energy, especially with the live jazz in the background. It truly set the tone for the rest of our wedding weekend. We love Arturo’s and can’t wait to keep coming back for pizza in the future — but I’d also highly recommend it for any private events. It was the perfect start to our celebration!

  • There is a reason this cozy restaurant has been around since 1957! I had been wanting to go here for a few years and finally had the chance! It was worth the wait! Your bread and pizza were perfectly done! The riceballs (arancini) were delicious as well! Thank you for such a great experience!
